Actually, I think this is mor eof a QT7 issue. I had this problem for ages in AE5.5 since upgrading to QT7. Once I upgraded AE to version 7 this stopped. I have been told on several forums that AE5 (and possibly 6 in your case) doesnt like QT7.

you guys are awesome, got a lot of testing to do today, see which one of these techniques will do it for me. Only use Card Dance once in a tutorial and dont fully understand it so I got some studying to do. The mosiac matte tip is great, should work like a charm.

this looks like a 3d app here, the motion of the ribbon is too natural. Zaxwerks MAY be able to pull something like that off, but I doubt it.

Yes, i would start by trashing QT app and any prefs. But it does leave a litter trail of installed components so may not work optimally. I rolled back once before but cannot remember what I did. May have been an installer specifically from Apple that has an uninstall option. Have not seen that otherwise…

there is no 1.6 for BV G4 lite. 1.5.2 was EOL for that product. You can pay $216 to upgrade to 1.7 but who wants to do that. The lite version works just fine.

you are so right, I could never figure out what the rational for the technique was. But having worked in Ad agencies for years I know the kind of bollocks these people talk. Someone probably saw Waking Like and thought thats cool and we should use that. Cant tell you how many times an AE came to me with a request like that. So unoriginal, and just, WHY??!! Drives me nuts just thinking about it….

There was an old program that took video and vectorized it readyfor Flash, called Wilform Flix. Not nearly as subtle and nice as the Waking Life software (Rotoshop) but will get you there with some work.
