I have had this issue on numerous occasions without anyone posting an adequate answer. Thank you for digging up an old thread and posting something that works!

I have read this a lot online, but, when I click on my AE application, I do not see the Prevent App Nap. I found it on my Premiere application, and the AE Render Engine, but not After Effects itself. Does anyone know what I may be doing wrong?

I am in the market for another authoring program as well. While I think my operating system is sufficient enough for the time being, I will have to find something else eventually. Every video I make for a client requires a disc, this is just the reality. Regardless of future trends, the present is tied to discs that have menus.

  • While that is disappointing to hear, I don’t know programming so I doubt having that feature would help me out anyway. Thanks for the response!

Thanks everyone for your valuable feedback. I think I have enough guidance to attempt to tackle this now.

I appreciate the links to the resources. The biggest challenge I see is how to make the image appear in the fire itself. I could use masks and a blend mode so that when the fire breaks so does the image, but I wasn’t sure if there was some trick using a matte or something to do it with less work. I have not scoured the tutorials here yet, so I may find my answer, but I wasn’t sure if someone knew off hand.

  • I appreciate the help. I had tried putting the items in the pre-comp in 3D and they were still going away, so I was very confused when I read the replies. However, I also have light sources in the master comp that are no where near the pre-composed layers, and even though I had pre-comp set to not accept the light, all of the individual layers were taking on the property of accepting light within the pre-comp so it made them go entirely dark by carrying over that property regardless of how I have the pre-comp itself set.

Thanks for the additional info about the motion blur, I had them checked in the pre-comp layer because of the nature of the motion on flying in, but that would have been another sticking point in the future I am sure.

  • I will be taking this on in a few days. However, I will first attempt to drop it in the timeline and see how it looks, but I will most likely run a plug in like Magic Bullet Frames, and possibly adjust the field options in premiere. This has resulted in reasonable success when I have had other interlaced footage in the past.

  • Okay great, this has been really helpful. I think I will attempt it in a 24p sequence since I would prefer my final output not be interlaced. But thanks again for the info.

  • Well, scaling down the menu did work. I guess downscaling will have to be the way to do it until Adobe decides to try to fix this issue. I am thankful that Blu-ray is not a problem as I see that being the future, but at the same time, the fact that DVD is still so glitchy after all this time is a little bothersome. I appreciate your help.
