  • Hi,

The total file size in Encore said it was about 29GB. I am using a 50GB dual layer Blu Ray disc for this. After it was done trying to make my .ISO file to one of my external drives, and it have me the Code 25 error message, I realized that my hard drive only had 57GB left on it.

If you are saying that I need 3 times the space on my hard drive than what Encore is saying my file size is, then I obviously needed more space on my external hard drive.

I moved a few things around and now I have 250GB on that drive, which is more than enough space, I am now re-making that .ISO file again right now.

I will let you know the results tomorrow.

    Thanks for your Help

  • HI Danny,

I would like to try and get it to stay under the 25 GB limit.

This DVD is for a family member and not a regular client of mine. If I go up to a 50 GB Blu-Ray, that would easily solve this problem. When I do edit for family members, I always make it longer than I would if it was for a regular client. The project would not be 2 and half hours long if it were a regular client.

Regular clients would get a project that was about an hour and a half to and hour and 45 minutes at most. So a 25GB would be fine for that.

Would a 50 GB BD Disc, play on most newer Blu-Ray Players? I know some Dual Layer SD DVD’s have trouble playing on some DVD players. I don’t want to run into that problem.

Would I have to make a Dual Layer Break Point on a 50 GB Blu-Ray Disc? Is that process easy or complicated in Encore?

Thanks for all all of your help and I look forward to your answer.

  • Thanks Danny,

I wish I had known about the bug in Encore.

So, what is a good workaround?

Should I encode my main project (timeline) from Premiere Pro into Media Encoder as a smaller Blu-Ray H.264 knowing it will be bigger when I put it in Encore?

Obviously, If Encore said it was only using 21.5 GB of space, and when I made an ISO file it came out to 25.75 GB, there is just abut 5 GB of overage there. So I guess I have to make my main timeline 2,3 or maybe 4 GB less that I would have to compensate for the error in Encore. So, maybe I just have to make sure that Encore always says the the Disc is 20 GB, knowing it’s more than that.

I will make an ISO file after my DVD is finished, before I burn it, to see how big it really is. The only downside is that if the project is still too big, I would have to re-encode my timeline in Media Encoder. That is a very long process and I would like to avoid that if possible.

Is there a better solution to this problem?

Thanks for everything and I look forward to your response

  • Hi,

I was burning it on a Blu-Ray Disc, not to a Hard drive.

When I did make an Blu-Ray ISO file, the same project came out to be 25.75 GB. Encore was saying it as only 21 GB.

Why is that? Does the project get bigger as it is transcoding?

    Thanks in advance

  • Hi Paul,

Thanks for the info. It worked out Great.

As a test, I created a new sequence with the same footage I used before when I cut up each time he spoke and manually leveled the audio one clip at a time.

I brought the footage in as a stereo track with the video attached on V1

I immediately went to Audio effects and put the Right Fill Effect on the Stereo Audio Clip. That got rid of the ambient channel and doubled up on the Microphone channel. Just what I wanted.

I then made a Razor Blade cut right when he starts to say his vows. I made another cut at the point where she is finished saying her vows.

I brought it into Soundbooth straight from Premiere Pro. I then went to Process —— Equalize Volume Levels.

10 Seconds later Soundbooth had equalized all the levels of The Groom, The Bride and the Priest. They were not peaking or anything. Perfect levels.

I then saved it and went back into Premiere Pro and the new levels were there replacing the original ones. I played in Premiere, and the levels were just as they were in Soundbooth. Perfect.

This will save me so much time from now on.

    Thanks for the Tip.

April 18, 2013 at 10:25 pm in reply to: QT File or QT Reference File. Lossless?

    Hi,

IN FCP my file is 1440 x 1080i

I just exported it out of Final Cut as a QT Reference File. It took about 10 minutes, I brought it into Premiere Pro and added my Encore Chapters. I am now Encoding it in Media Encoder as H.264 Blu-Ray, 1440 x 1080 29.97 Upper. PCM Audio 48 KHZ, VBR 2 Pass, Target Bit Rate 18.5, Max Bit Rate 20.

This is going to be used just for this purpose, PPro, to Media Encoder, to Encore to be burned as a Blu-Ray.

Once I have Burned 2 or 3 copies of the Blu-Ray Disc, I am deleting everything off my hard drive. It will not be used again for anything else.

If it does not look good or it looks weird after it Encodes or when the Disc is finished, I will make a Self contained QT file out of FCP and use different settings.

Thanks for the info and help

  • Hi,

How can I do this in After Effects?

I would bring in the background of the menu into After Effects.

I would then drop my videos in Video Drop Zones (Where can I get video drop zones?) The menu does come with them, but how can I just drop them in there in After Effects?

Then, I would have to get a button or just make a button that does not have a Video Drop Zone attached to it and put that underneath where the video drop zone is and link it up to a chapter in my timeline.

That would solve my problem, am I right? Separating the Video Drop Zone from the actual words of the chapter should do it.

Here is a screenshot of my button. The White over the Film strip is the “Video drop Zone” and “Chapter 2”. Right now they are one button. I need to Separate them in order for it to work.

How can I do this in After Effects or Photoshop?

    Thanks in advance

  • Hi,

Yes I did. It did not play.

    Hi,

I tried that and it did not work. Menu still goes Black after 30 seconds with song still playing.

  • Hi Jerry,

I tried that and it still did not work. Is there something I am missing. It worked fine in Leopard. Could it be a Snow Leopard Thing? I cannot seem to get the box to open on my Left screen.

I am using FInal Cut Pro 6 on a Brand New Mac Pro.

    Thanks in advance
