Thank you for that info. I am trying to bring the close captioned tape back into my system so that I can burn one or two DVDs from the computer at a time. Does this basically mean that I can never do this?

Thank you. That will really help not tying FCP up to compress.

I finally got the project compressed and put it into DVDSP and it worked. Thank you all for your help and advice. I will be able to get this to the client.

    Thanks again.

I’m using FCP 6 Bundle with DVDSP and QT 7. I did not mix down the audio before I exported it, but I often don’t mix down the audio and the audio always (except this time) shows up well and sounds fine.

I sent the project to compressor about 10 AM and it is still compressing. I have another project in FCP that I need to edit, but while compressor is compressing I cannot continue to edit. Is there a way that I can work on another FCP project while that is compressing?

I do appreciate all the help.

I often choose the export to QT or QT Conversion if the project is under 1 hour 45 min and then import it into DVDSP with good results. And DVDSP accepted it – just no audio this time. So I am a bit confused.

Also – Is there a way I can compress one sequence in FCP while working on another sequence?

Thank you for your help and advice.

I found out that most of my compressor problem stemed from the fact that my hard drive was completely full. I removed about 10 GB and Compressor started to respond.

Yes, I realize that the video and audio are separtley compressed and that in dvdsp the audio usually trails up after the video. The wierd thing is that there IS no audio. Now all I am getting is video. I am compressing the same way I did weeks before when it would give me the audio, but no go.
I’ve been thinking about jumping up to FCP6. Would doing so fix my problems?

Thank you for such a quick reply. Yes, I almost always have compressor issues. Quite frankly, I thought they were due to my lack of tech savvy – and I’m still partly sure they are.

So you are saying that I should reinstall my whole operating System – Tiger 10.4.3 and FCS2. My issue with that – (other than abject fear that my computer will crash) is that my hard drive has NO more space on it.

At this moment, can you think of a work around to help me compress, get this project off my computer (it is due Monday)so I can then do the reinstalls? By the way, when I upgraded to FCS2 I had major issues installing and the Mac people had do send me numerous replacement discs.

    Thanks for the response.
I went back twice to my client who went back twice to her client who finally told us exactly what their graphic person wanted. Having more information helped.

I just tried the mixdown. It didn’t work on any of the spots. I’m open and appreciative to any other suggestions you might have.
