August 8, 2007 at 9:01 pm in reply to: How do I make buttons invisible until selected?Well I got them to appear invisible just by changing the normal color to black which blends with my black background.
But I have these buttons loop at 6 seconds. ANd for some reason it shows the buttons (which are white as made in photoshop) as white from 0-6 seconds then when they get to their loop point the first one is highlighted and the rest disppear (turn black, normal state).
So how can I make it so you can’t see the buttons before the loop point? I tried making black buttons in photoshop but then the subpicture highlight is real pixelated looking on the edges, where as a white button edges are smooth when highlighted.
ANy ideas?

For anyone interested, I found a good cheater way to make 3d text. I just created my text image in photoshop. I used a bold faced font and created a metallic look for it. Or you can download metallic styles from the adobe exchange. Then placed my text in AE, created a 3d animation using the Y axis, so it rotates left to right off in the distance. Then applied a CC spotlight to match the field of depth animation. Adding that spotlight to the metallic text really makes it look 3d. Just applying it to plain text doesn’t get the effect at all. But matching the spotlight to the movement and the shine off the metallic text looks top notch.

July 13, 2007 at 5:32 am in reply to: How can I manually replicate the Exponential Scale effect in standard? Thanks! I think I got it. Just had to play with the graph handles a bit. Still needs a little fine tuning, but definitely close. Thanks again!

July 13, 2007 at 12:54 am in reply to: How can I manually replicate the Exponential Scale effect in standard?I’m sorry, I don’t follow what you are saying. I tried changing the levels on the graph and still no change 50% of the scale happens in the first 5 frames and 50% happens in the remaining seconds. Here is a screencap of the graph…

What should it look like for an even zoom?

July 12, 2007 at 7:45 pm in reply to: How can I manually replicate the Exponential Scale effect in standard?I’ve tried that, but no matter what I do it’s never remotely smooth. This tutorial I am replicating is a series of still images linked together and each resized a fraction of the one under it. Then they are all linked to layer #1, so you can scale them all based on a 1-100 scale. You’d have to watch the tutorial to see exactly what I mean. Because they’re linked and different sizes when I scale from 0.01% to 1% on screen it scales the images (because they’re parented) more than when I scale from 60 to 80%. So how to you get a smooth scale when its not uniform?

July 7, 2007 at 6:00 pm in reply to: Twixtor Help – New and can’t figure it outYes I read the manual and they’re examples are nothing like what really happens. For example in the slow mo tutorial they apply the speed change and the clip still starts at the same point, just shortens the overall length (since it cant make clip durations longer than usual). Where as in AE when I apply the speed change it totally changes the current starting point and I have to search the clip to find it. I couldn’t even get Twixtor 4.5pro to work. I managed to get 4.5 to work though, but still its a pain because it totally changes the points in my clip and I have to search and move my keyframes to the right part of the clip everything I change the speed.
Also whats with the pixelation and bluriness around the moving objects twixtor slows down? The slowmo footage is awesome but around the moving objects its real blury and pixelated looking. Any ideas?

May 11, 2007 at 1:33 am in reply to: Where’d my effects go? Some disappeared from the menu!?So it looks like all the ‘CC’ effects are form Cycore which was included with AE 6.5. I can’t for the life of me find my AE CD to reinstall. Any ideas how to get these cycore effects back? Or are there any other effects that could create a spot light effect?
