ProResHQ can be an SD format, but more likely HD. What’s the dimension of the frame? if it’s 1920×1080 pixels, you’ve got HD.
also it’s a great finishing codec for most everyday HD work. I wouldn’t blink twice about finishing in ProResHQ in all but the most demanding situations.

Just drop that 1920×1080 into DVD studio pro. It will make a beautiful 23.98 fps DVD. Something wonky happened when you did the conversion to 29.97.

If all you want to do is edit, a G5 is a great little box. We have dual 2.5 in the studio that we rent – someone just edited a 30 minute piece in 1080 HDV at it performed admirably.
But the performance jump going to the MacPro would astound you. Plus you could dual boot it with Windows XP and use your CS4 on the same box.
spend the extra dinero now, get a better and more versatile box. In two years it’ll still be valid where the G5 will be lost to time.

Can’t say it’s the same for scoring:
but back in the day when we had a 23.98 master, the mix house only could work in 24fps. BUT if we gave them a digibeta downconvert at 29.97, they could mix at 29.97 and the resulting AIFF’s sync perfectly back in FCP

sounds like your prores media and your sequence settings do not match.
What flavor is your prores? 1080/2398?
What are your sequence settings?
when you export everything is full quality.

1) do you have enough free space on the target drive?
2) or delete all your renders and re-render. sometimes a buggy render file causes this

Nice though Chris, but already tried that. All that does is affect the overall gamma…. but all the pops are still there, just displayed darker.
