it’s hard to say specifically. When you move your project media, is there other media on the target drive? Are you keeping media relavant to a project in discreet folders? Your problem sound initially like FCP is finding media with the same name and connecting to that…. as in, you have several projects worth of media on a drive, with similar clip names for some of your media, and the automatic find is grabbing the wrong pieces. Assuming that all your media is in a single capture scratch folder, once you reconnect one clip, “automatically reconnect all clips in folder” should work fine.

One computer shows the FCP 5.0.2 update available, another one doesn’t. . . .

  • So does this mean the Decklink HD cards can now downconvert DVCPROHD 720p to NTSC/PAL?

double check you output settings in the Export dialog. It SHOULD be “Current Settings”, which assuming Machine 2 is working in 10bit timelines, all the outputs will be full D1 quality.

Can’t help you much, but I’m having all sorts of permission problems as well. My own “pictures” folder in Home is set to “unknown” and I don’t have Read/Write. If I unlock and switch, it will revert as soon as the window closes. One example of several dozen permission inconsistencies in 10.4.1

yeah, i use this workaround as well. But some editors prefer the trim window… which is nice in some situations because it gives you +/- counts on your trims, a view of the A/B video, as well as a preview of your edit.

Oh! and trimming on multiple layers. So you have a stream on 1, and a clip on video 2. You want to trim that V2 clip in relation to where it lines up with V1. but the trim tool only shows you BLACK on either side when you’re trimming V2.

Speaking of speed changes. They are STILL a COMPLETE mess when you try and batch digitize. Some worked, about 10% grabbed the wrong clip or created a still frame istead of a slowdown. Long day chasing around media yesterday.
