Well, now I’ve set everything to “never sleep,” and the one drive has basically not been given a chance to fall into a slumber ad act up. 😉 However…right now I am in the process of backing up my media so I can restripe the drives as two separate drives as opposed to one Raid set. This way, if I do lose the fritzy drive, all the more important media will be on the drive I know has been more reliable.

    Thx for your help.

Could you explain this in more detail? So you’re saying, pre-comp my animations (everything’s pretty much static, except the curves are revealed by a linear wipe) with my pixels set to “square” (same resolution though, in my case, 720×480) and then nest that inside a master comp with D1/DV pixels (0.9), with the x-scaling of my precomp set to 90% (turning “contrain proportions” off, basically)? lemme know

Thx Jason. Yeah, I already had everything set to similar parameters re. fiield orders, comp settings in AE vs. those in FCP, etc. I went ahead and added a 1-pt FAST BLUR to the AI curves, and that really smoothed things out for me…thx. A 1-pt fast blur looked a little better than anything between 0.2 and 0.5, so everything looks much better than before…THX AGAIN!!

There’s “drive write cache” and “controller write cache.” I’ll disable both, just to be safe and try again. Should you find out which one of the two caches should stay checked, pls let me know. 😉

    thx

    August 9, 2006 at 2:03 pm in reply to: converting dvx100’s 29.97 60i footage

But I thought G-Film only made the clips “look” like 24p but still kept the timecode 29.97. I’ve used G-film many times before, but never paid attention to whether or not it actually “converted” the timecode to 23.98 or 24.0. I wonder, because when I go to recapture these 60i clips for the online edit, FCP is going to want to look for 29.97 clips, correct(and not 23.98)?

    😉
