    Was wondering…. how to make a text layer’s text track apart from the center as opposed to from the left side, which is the AE default behavior. thx guys.

    Oops…BTW–I’m using AE 6.5 pro bundle.

    select your text. go to your Window menu and choose Paragraph.
    In the Paragraph window you choose “center text”.

    I realize that this is an old post, but since I figured this out I thought I’d share. If you’re goal is to have centered text and the tracking start loose and compress to the center, set your animator Start and End keyframes to 0% and to 100%, respectively. Where your animation ends set both the Start and End to 50%.
