Yes indeed, thank you for the great tips! I tried a couple of the methods and they both worked well. One step further!

Thank you for the tip. I duplicated my explosion clip twice and the clarity came through great! Seemed like the easiest method and it worked like a charm. Thank you for all the tips!

If its a video clip you could duplicate the layer and use the pen tool to create a mask of just the head and set the mask type to add, then key the position of it moving/falling/whatever. At the point where the head leaves the body create another mask of the head but set it to subtract. Once you do that youll need a background image for those frames since the mask is taking away that material. It can be a bit difficult to explain…if this is what youre questioning about. If you go to https://www.videocopilot.net/videotutorials/suicide/ there is an amazing video tutorial how to create something similar to this. At any rate, itll show you how to make a still image of the background for the subtraction mask.

Id have to say that as ill-frequent as the tutorials and video tutorials are, they sure are amazing. Ive learned more in those tutorials that any other place or help files. Thank you to all of you who go through the time and effort to make them!

June 30, 2007 at 11:06 pm in reply to: Whats the best way to bring in large video clips that you only want to use a little of?I havent tried to trim both sides of a clip (beginning and end) but I have trimmed or cut a clip/layer in half. If you put your marker in the spot you want to cut and hit Ctrl+Shift+D, I believe is the command, it will cut the clip at that point. From there you can edit the piece then reinsert it back in once its been rendered. Im not sure if thats the best way to do it, but thats probably what I would try.

Hah, I had a feeling it was something simple like that. Thanks for the tips, it worked like a charm.

Thanks for the advice. I remember watching those videos and took another looks at them. I tinkered with my video and did something similar. The problem was that the speed at which the camera rotates it blurrs the pixels the tracker points lock onto so it just jumps around. I had to go back and manualy relocate each of the 10 or so tracker points; no big deal. Good thing is is now it works!
Thanks for the tutorial links! -
