    Hello all,
Welp, Ive been using After Effects for a little over a week now and Im not too sure how to create or modify particle emitters to do what I want. Basically, I want to have an explosion behind my house with firey smoke rising up in the distance. I know how to use masks to make it look like its coming from behind the house, but Im just not to sure how to create the smoke. I have the particle playground and tracode particulars particle emitters to use…I just cant figure out how to make realistic looking smoke like Ive seen in other examples. Im sure there this is an artistic challenge to get it accurate; does anyone have any suggested presets or tips? Thanks in advance!!

Trapcode’s Particular has some pretty good presets you can look at, and if one looks close, apply it and see what they did. Then either base your work off of it, or start from scratch keeping in mind what you learned from the preset. This is a decent way to familiarize yourself with the plug-in.
