My only recommendation based on your requirements is to created nested sequences. Working with nested sequences is certainly not slow.

1. Yes, you should be OK with that system. Rendering times depend on a LOT of factors, so coming up with a number is often difficult.

Regarding your question, have you tried to group your video & audio files together? What about nested sequences?

I wouldn’t even attempt to do this. Windows uses AVI files which aren’t really the preferred format for the Mac platform. I would say either go from PR 6.5 to PPRO [WIN] or try to wrap up the project in 6.5

If your goal is to edit the 720p footage, you don’t have many options. You could import 1080i footage into a 720p project and then render that out as an AVI and then render the AVI.

Do you have the entire suite? If so, you can simply use Dynamic Link and then import the AE comp into Premiere Pro.
