What I have been steadfastly maintaining through the thick and thin of these last two years, Media 100 is the best! Expensive maybe, but the best. The overlapping clip problem sounds a danger though, thanks to those who have pointed it out – no need to overlap, just trim what would be covered up.

Sorry Bobby, you are right, I misread SD for HD. The HD connect would probably do both jobs for you, why contemplate getting both, can’t you change your order?

I also have one on order (for six months!) and expect it any day now. I too am fearing that firewire for Media 100 HD might arrive soon but I still need my magic box because I shoot in HDV and want to get out of it as soon as possible in the post process and edit in HD 8bit uncompressed. I will post as soon as all installed and tested.

I hope to be getting a Convergent Design box (HDV-Connect) which is due in the UK any time now. I will be converting HDV to HD for editing in Media 100HD. I believe it will go in via firewire with machine control for the Sony HVR M10 deck. Everyone seems to think all will be well, I’ll post results when I have tested.

Here here but I am going to cheat by going in through Convergent Design which DOES use firewire! It will come for Media 100 next year nI am sure though.

Thanks Floh, but does that mean that with Media 100 HD I should not rely on Studio Pro 4 to compress but do it with BitVice? Since I don’t need chapters I really don’t need to use Studio Pro for DVD’s at all then?

Many people here are praising Bit Vice for compression prior to burning a DVD, how does one get it? Is it necessary if you have DVD Studio Pro 4 which has just arrived with my new HD Version 10?
Any suggestions would be appreciated as at present I have someone compress and burn DVD’s for me and I have had no compatibility problems so far.

Hey Steve, in that case I hope that all the people who have bought HD up to now get pretty cheap upgrade prices! Any sign of firewire I/O for version 10?

Nick, Media 100 (i or HD) is simply a better system than FCP so even if those who left might not return, more new editors should opt for Media 100. More logical, much better media management, better quality etc. etc. more expensive it’s true, but you can’t have everything.

Yes but you are then editing in native HDV are you not? I want to edit in HD to avoid all the problems with mixes and graphics and be able to master in HD, HDCAM and DV, all in 4:3 and 16:9 aspects.
