Thanks Floh, yes I am editing in 8 bit uncompressed HD (converted through Convergent Design’s box from HDV). It is a new system and I can’t imagine the Media 100 re seller putting in inadequate drives so I must have described them wrongly. They are coming tomorrow for a big troubleshoot so I will show them your post.

This is my intended workflow from Media 100 HD. I believe that the hardware in the system does the downconvert very well with no loss of quality together with the choice of aspect ratio (16:9 or 4:3). This is one of the features of the new HD version.

Paul, you lucky b…..er, I DO know most of the right people and surely the boss of the manufacturer must be among them! I can’t mention companies here but one of the main distributers has only just finalised the testing with adjusted software so how did you get your box? If you want to mail me ‘off forum’ I would appreciate it, michael.slowe@btinternet.com

Anne, my point is well taken up by John in the next post. Film makers (and editors) are funny people, they need comforting when they are down! They need to be able to speak (correspond) with like minds and need to get information and assistance not likely to come from press or PR people, with all due respect to you.
Example, recently I upgraded to version 10 HD and desperately needed a full printed and bound manual, similar to the ones we were provided with in all our previous big up grades. I know it is available as a pdf but I needed it in my hands. Steve had some printed and I am now a happy and comforted bunny. Here in the UK we are luckily used to being looked after like this, I gather that US business practice is rather different.

The best deck of this type is the Sony GV-D300E if they still make it but it cost as much or maybe more.

To whom do we now address any urgent Media 100 queries? Could someone from Media 100 please post a reply – if they are watching that is.

I for one am NOT proposing to follow Steve to FCP thank you, Media 100 is too good to leave!

Peter, how are you getting DV material shot on your PD150 into Media 100 HD? There is no firewire in at the moment, what deck are you trying to digitize from? Never mind the PAL/NTSC problem, I would love to get DV into my HD system if I could.
