And what version of motion are you using? You NEVER said. Are you using the universal version?

Try deleting the motion preference files.

Click on finder menu at the top of the screen and select secure empty trash, if that dosn’t work try restarting then emptying the trash.

Try doing a secure empty trash. If they were old system drives, why not just reformat then is disk utility.

12 hours of footage will take a long time to compress with or with out a time code burn. And it will take extremely long for you to upload it, and for them to download it, even if it is highly compressed it is still 12 hours of footage.

The easy thing to do would be to, hook up your deck to a stand alone DVD recorder and set your deck to display time code. Then just make some DVD’s to send to them.

Compressing and uploading just seems like way to much work, and depending on where you up load it to you most likely wont be able to upload all of it. Even though it is compressed 12 hours will still take up a decent chunk of space.

Is this the system drive? NEVER CAPTURE TO THE SYSTEM DRIVE!!! If it is a separate drive then what is the total size of the drive, all you said is how much free space the drive has. ALWAYS leave at least 10-15% free on any hard drive. So if the drive is a 500GB drive then it is way to full, for a drive of that size it should have at least 50GB free.

Thats because it a feature of the Mac OS. In OS X holding down control and using the mouse scroll douse a zoom of the entire screen.

Please provide more info, what format you are working in, what deck, computer specs etc.

It could be any number of things, a problem with the deck, a bad firewire cable (if you are going through a firewire cable you never said), it could be a corrupted preference file in FCP have you tried trashing your preffs.

The settings you said look right for what you are trying to do. Whenever funny things happen in final cut pro it could be caused by a corrupt preference file. If you do not know how do trash your preference files do a search it has been covered many times.
