The Undo bug is BACK!
Posted by Steve Connor on March 6, 2012 at 3:53 pmJust lost a couple of hours work because of the undo bug which I thought had gone in 10.03. The bug also affected the backup file.
You have been warned……

Bad Luck.
I hadn’t actually realised it had been fixed!
It’s an infrequent bug on my setup but there is no way of knowing you have it until you hit undo. So it’s quite possible to not realise that undo is not working, shut down and next time you launch realise that all the work you did in the last session has not been saved.
The only thing to do is to, by force of habit, hit undo / redo frequently , then at least you don’t incur too much damage.

Yeah Steve, I got it in 10.0.3, but I wasn’t checking often enough to determine how long or what might have contributed. I was hoping it was gone, so I wasn’t really looking for it.
So my list is still:
1) Undo bug (autosave bug – give is a manual save!
2) Keyframe ability in the color corrector!
Of course, an increase in the spinning beach balls in 10.0.3 fix would be nice too.

March 7, 2012 at 12:04 amDoes this happen in Lion as well as Snow Leopard?
I’ve never run into it. I’m running 10.6.8.

March 7, 2012 at 3:49 amHad it happen twice in early versions not since 1.0.3.
The way this program uses RAM is just crazy, with no way to clear the cache. I don’t know if they’re related but I keep Activity Monitor open and quit every time I get close to RAM out. By that time the program is so sluggish that I really don’t need to check and just automatically quit whenever it bogs down.
The 1.0.3 beach ball upgrade has got me scratching my head too.

Does this mean the archive backup stops backing up as well? That’s bad. I can’t figure out if this autosave thing is in FCP, though it’s properly being triggered in FCP, or if it’s part of the autosave scheme used by the OS and that’s failing.
All the best,
Tom
