You need a hefty Raid with eight drives.

When working Uncompressed, you need every ounce of speed and power. David mentioned a very fast array, somewhere in the neighborhood of 300MB/sec and you probably wnat more than that. I use a Sonnet D800RAID and it gets upwards of 350MB.sec when it’s getting kind of full. When it’s empty it’s up near 500. EVen if you get the fastest machine, FCP is not really an Uncompressed workhorse. It just wasn’t designed that way. When working 720p30, you’d get at least rt transitions, and maybe a color corrector 3way, but that’s about it. If you go up to 1080i, you might get a transition.
My advice would be to get yourself a screaming CPU (a new MacPro) and a decent raid and work in ProResHQ. It’s not uncompressed, but it is compressed 10bit. It is a fantastic codec that holds up very nicely. ProRes requires a MacPro for capture and playback, though. If you don’t want to use a compressed codec, then you can use uncompressed 8bit.

Well right now i am working with a pretty fast raid i believe its Fibre Channel.Forgive me if i should like Im lost about this sometimes, I am still learning.

wouldnt Fibre Channel be fast enough? So the main problem is my computer?
