What kind of raid is it? I know it connects through fibre channel, but who manufactures it?
I think you said it’s a 1TB raid, so that must mean its pretty old, and since it’s fibre I bet it’s made by Huge or Ciprico? If so, there are much faster drives out there for less money. Also, Ciprico is now out of business so support is going to be tough.

It’s a combination of both. For Uncompressed, you want the fastest of whatever you can get. Since your fibre is probably a single channel fibre, I bet it tops out at around 250 MB/sec.
