September 17, 2013 at 10:29 pmOK things are still bad, but things have slightly changed. Now im not sure if it was the update.
After realising there wasn’t anything I could do, I decided to start start the project again from scratch, thinking I could convert the quicktime video’s and start again in a different format. However I tried loading my quicktime vid into the new project and it worked! Played absolutely fine. Added a few more and they all worked fine. Rendered it down and the exported video played fine.
So went on to completely remake the project, however once I got to round about the same point as the last project, the quicktime vids stopped working again!! This time there was no update!
Im now wondering if its something else! Possibly a memory limit problem? Anybody have any ideas?

September 18, 2013 at 1:59 amBoy, its then very hard to be specific as to what is causing
you this issue Philip.
Tell you what, uninstall Vegas and Quicktime, clean up your
system a bit (i use CCleaner), Restart your system and
re-install the newest versions of both Vegas and Quicktime. And don’t be overwhelmed, this whole process is not complex,
it will take you fifteen minutes tops….lol
Its not a guarantee, but, it doesn’t hurt to try.Steve Rhoden

September 18, 2013 at 2:23 amYou could be running out of resources but Vegas Pro 12.0 is 64-bit so it will use all of the memory you have. How much memory do you have?
BTW, WMV files are horrible to edit. Vegas can’t edit the audio natively so it has to build audio proxy files. Maybe it’s the WMV’s that are hogging the resources?

September 18, 2013 at 4:25 amI didnt even remember that you said you had WMV files on the timeline,
i thought it was just quicktime files. As John said, those too could
also be posing a problem.Steve Rhoden

September 18, 2013 at 11:33 amI was just reading that Vegas Pro depends on the 32-bit QuickTime API and when you add too many MOV files to Vegas Pro they just start showing up as black frames. So it seems this is a limitation of the way QuickTime support is implemented in Vegas Pro.
It looks like if you want to work with a lot of QuickTime files (which are native to Mac not PC) you need to convert them into something else that is native to the PC. CineForm will produce AVI files that edit nicely and you can use Sony MXF as well.

September 18, 2013 at 12:57 pmThanks John, Worth a try! I’ll delete some of the .mov clips out of the project and them convert them to avi and see if it makes any difference!
Thanks,
Phil

September 18, 2013 at 2:00 pmHmmm, things are getting stranger! Vegas is now crashing A LOT!! And won’t accept my .avi files. Message pops up saying Vegas can’t open them. I think it may be time to just un install and re install and try again! My deadline for this video was tomorrow evening! Don’t think thats going to happen!
