    Hoping somebody can help!

I have been working on a project for the last week with no problems, a mixture of .wmv files and quicktime video’s loaded from an iphone.

Last night my computer installed windows updates when shutting down, and today sony vegas is not playing any of my quicktime clips!

.wmv files are working fine. Quicktime vids are playing fine in other video players, just not in vegas!

Anybody else having these problems, or have any advice?

    Help!

Just uninstall that last windows update and you will be as good as new.
I personally do not allow windows to automatically update my system, because it can possibly cripple something in my everyday workflow, and
that is what has happened to you.

Uninstall the updates. Then turn automatic updates off and only allow updates after you have backed up your computer so that you can recover by restoring it. I don’t allow Microsoft to update my computer unless I have a full backup because they regularly mess things up.

Thank you guys for your quick responses, however still having a bit of trouble!

I uninstalled the updates, and restarted, however it still doesn’t seem to be playing these quicktime vids properly! There is one update that I couldn’t uninstall, wouldn’t give me the option! Don’t know whether that is the problem update!

Decided to try a system restore, but It’s only offering me 1 restore point which is after the problems started!! Not much help! Don’t seem to be able to get any early restore points!

I’m only an amateur vid editor, now I realise why you should back up regularly!!

What codec do the QuickTime videos use? If you open them in the QuickTime player and use Ctrl+I it will bring up the Movie Inspector and tell you. Also what version of QuickTime do you have installed? QuickTme 7.7.4 is the latest.

I have the latest quicktime installed. I don’t know anything about codec’s but I did the movie inspector thing, and the important info I’ve collected from it is

    Format: h.264, 1074 x 604 millions
    AAC, mono, 44.100 khz

    movie fps: 29.97

    Data Rate: 17.35 mbits/sec

Don’t really know what any of it means! Thank you again for all your help guys, really appreciate it!

H.264 should be playing fine although 1074×604 is an odd size. What are the problems you’re having? You said they don’t play properly but what exactly does that mean?

I have a selection of wmv clips and quicktime clips in my timeline, they were all trimmed down and working fine. Now since the update, when I play the project, the wmv clips show in the preview window, but the quicktime clips don’t show in the preview window and are just black. I rendered the project to see if it was just the preview that wasn’t showing the clips, but in the exported video every part of the video that was from a quicktime clip just goes black.

However all the quicktime video’s play absolutely fine in other video players, just not in Sony Vegas! It’s as if Vegas has just decided not to support quicktime video’s over night!!
