July 29, 2007 at 2:13 pm[walter biscardi] “We’re finding a lot of issues with the Adobe Premium Production CS3 suite as well, so Apple isn’t the only one with any problems moving forward.”
Walter,
I’ve had the render issue on 3 different Intel machines. I freelance at a place that just upgraded 3 G5s to FCS2, so we’ll see there. As far as your Adobe comments, I would point out that also Avid is plagued in its MC 2.7 (“MC Soft”) product, so yes, everyone is having some issues at the moment. Are you running released versions of CS3 or betas? Premiere Pro CS3?

July 29, 2007 at 3:41 pmI’ve had some lost renders on my Mac Pro, running FCP6.0.1. After reading about other people with similar problems, I decided to report the problem to Apple, too. But as I was gathering information for the feedback form, the problem seemed to fix itself. Strange. But I’m happy with the outcome.

Funny thing about that. I posted it in the “Losing Renders” thread and today I see that the Cow has opted to censor the post and delete the link. Go figure. It’s one of the latest Apple Knowledge Base documents.
Thanks Cow !!! 🙁

Released version, we purchased the entire package. Not running Premiere yet as we have the AJA Kona boards and there are no drivers for Premiere yet. Right now the biggest issue is Encore and burning BluRay discs. It simply won’t do it.

Text from the Apple Doc:
Issue or symptom
In some cases, rendered items may become unrendered after quitting and then re-opening a project in Final Cut Pro 6. In these cases, the render bar will indicate that the items are rendered, but if you attempt to play the video, you will see “Unrendered” in the Canvas.
This can happen if you duplicate a sequence with rendered items, then quit, then re-open Final Cut Pro. The duplicated sequence will remain rendered, but the original sequence may require re-rendering.
Products affected
Final Cut Pro 6
SolutionWorkflow Considerations
If you are creating the duplicate sequence as a safety point from which to make further changes, you can avoid this issue to some practical extent by working with the duplicated sequence, not the original.
If you’re creating the duplicate sequence as a branching point from which to make variations, it may be necessary to re-render the original sequence. After the original sequence has been been re-rendered, it will stay rendered after you quit Final Cut Pro and re-open the project.
This document will be updated as more information becomes available.

Walter,
Stupid question, but I presume you are using a BD burner and media. Are you doing HD or SD BluRay Discs?

Nope, not a stupid question at all. Yes, FastMac BluRay burner in the second optical slot in my Mac Pro. Using Sony BluRay media. HD BluRay project created in Encore.
It has crashed all three times we’ve attempted to burn a project, either by simply disappearing, or giving us different error messages. We’ve compressed the footage using both Compressor and Encore but that didn’t change anything.
When we called Adobe tech support they sent us a link to a support page on their website with a LONG laundry list of things to attempt to fix the issue, something like 6 pages worth. So it apparently is an issue they are aware of and someone in the Encore DVD forum here on the Cow has started a thread about this issue.
BluRay was the only reason we even purchased Encore and the production suite to begin with. I really don’t need Premiere, but Encore comes bundled with it.
Also one BIG gotcha that we were unaware of as was our VAR. Premiere and Encore do NOT work on PowerPC G5’s. So I’m actually returning one entire suite back to Adobe.
