December 2, 2008 at 7:31 pmUnchecked remove advanced pull down in the L&T prefs. Dumped my preference files and rebuilt everything. Still no go on the spanned clips.
Here’s what I know. They are not corrupt because they worked on a PPC G5 2.7. Can’t L&T on either of my FCP intel 8-cores here. The files my friend L&T’d for me spanned are in the 5Gig range once converted to mov files. When I attempt to L&T them they come in at 735mb. I’m only getting a little of the clip and the rest is black.
On my second intel system, there is no capture card, it is an Assistant Editor station.
Vexing.

December 2, 2008 at 7:59 pmAll the latest. If I run software updates there is nothing to update. OSX 10.5.5, FCPS 6.0.5.

December 2, 2008 at 8:18 pmThis feels like a disk formatting error to me as it only happens on long clips. Open the disk utility and tell me what it says for format for your scratch disk and for the fw800 disk. I know, we are just double checking here.

December 2, 2008 at 8:22 pmMaybe disk warrior, but I don’t think so. The clips seem to fine. Warren do you have another disk besides your raid? Try changing your scratch disk to something besides your raid and then l&t one of the clips.

December 2, 2008 at 8:31 pmNo errors. Not a DiskWarrior issue. It worked off the FW800 on another system at another facility. I’m copying to an internal SATA drive that is formated Mac OS Extended as well. Will try it from that disk.
My RAID is formatted as Mac OS Extended as RAID 6. By the way the RAID/Scratch disk is shared storage over the network, configured by Bob Zelin. But it is Mac OS Extended when I look at Disk Utilities on the server.

December 2, 2008 at 8:42 pmSee, there’s something there with that shared storage. Change your scratch disk temporarily to your boot drive and then try an l&t on a problem clip.

December 2, 2008 at 8:48 pmWhen I say change your scratch disk, I mean change it in the fcp prefs so the media goes somewhere other than your raid. Make sense? Sorry for typos. I don’t have iPhone friendly digits.

December 2, 2008 at 8:55 pmI guess I’ll have to live with it. This is the RAID system I have. If it doesn’t work with the shared storage I’m sort of SOL. I can’t invest in a new RAID. The unspanned clips work fine.
