P2 import from lacie
Posted by Neil Gelinas on June 19, 2006 at 6:00 pmI’m trying to import some P2 footage that was backed up to a lacie drive. When I try to import it into FCP, it doesn’t recognize the wrapped quicktimes (MXFs) as P2 footage. When I do this from the P2 store, it works fine. Any suggestions?

June 19, 2006 at 6:23 pmWas the footage properly copied onto the Lacie? Did you get the entire CONTENTS folder and LASTCLIP.TXT file? Does the CONTENT folder have 6 folders inside?
Did you navigate to that folder in the P2 Import window by hitting the + button?

June 19, 2006 at 6:39 pmShane, you’re right on. Doesn’t have that lastclip.txt file. Only the contents folder. Any suggestions?

June 19, 2006 at 6:57 pmTo tell you the truth you don’t really need that LASTCLIP.txt file. That is mainly for when you have clips that span two cards.
What folders are in your CONTENTS folder?

June 19, 2006 at 7:54 pmHey Shane, I liked your video. It was clear and informative. Yes, I’m doing everything else right. I don’t have too much experience with this since this is only our second shoot with this as our #2 camera; however, the first time it worked great. This time, who ever was putting the footage on to the lacies didn’t do it correctly and thought that little txt file was insignificant. So now, I’m stuck, and even in your video, you specifically say you need that txt file to import. But then earlier in this thread you say you don’t. Any suggestions? Again, thanks for taking the time to help.

June 19, 2006 at 8:19 pmSo you clicked on the + sign and navigated to the CONTENTS folder…selected the CONTENTS folder and hit CHOOSE and…it didn’t work?
What did it say?

June 19, 2006 at 8:23 pmThat’s what I did, and no it doesn’t. It says, “selected path does not contain a P2 volume.”

June 19, 2006 at 8:34 pmLook in the CONTENTS folder and then open the VIDEO folder. Is there something in there? Look in the CLIPS folder, is there something in there?

June 19, 2006 at 8:39 pmYeah, there are files in both. It seems like everything is as it should be other than the lastclip.txt file.
