At least in their wisdom the ADDED a FW400 port to the new MacBook. SO now we have all these people who have a MacBook without FW. There is that one stupid in-between model.

No mention either, of Blu-Ray support in Snow Leopard. Is it possible for the next version of FCP to support Blu-Ray without the OS supporting it first?

I think it is becoming obvious that Apple wants to forget Blu Ray for other options for HD.

None of these movies will play on my PC or my MBP.

    Have a wonderful day.

Aid I FAIL to see how it is to big. In my opinion the 15 is to small if you want to be doing video.

[Shane Ross] “[Chris Babbitt] “the new 15″ MacBooks will drop the Express Card slot in favor of an SD Card slot. Only the 17″ retains the Express slot.”

How stupid is that? DAMN STUPID. This shuts out the AJA I/O HD (because it uses the ONE FW bus your computer has), the MXO2 (that connects via Express34) and the MXO2 mini and I/O Express…that also connect via Express34. So the MacBook Pro is now NOT a Pro model for video. Only a pro for…business and photographers? And people who shoot RED onto SD cards? Or does red shoot to CF cards. “

What do so many people have against the 17″ MBP[Shane Ross] “[Chris Babbitt] “the new 15″ MacBooks will drop the Express Card slot in favor of an SD Card slot. Only the 17″ retains the Express slot.”

If your doing pro video and want a portable machine why would you not want the 17″. Some say it is to big , it’s NOT to big.

I don’t want the 17″. Too big. The 15″ is perfect….always has been. I FAIL to see how they can call this a PRO model without expansion.

I have been editing just fine on my 15″ models (Powerbook before that) for years.

And being FORCED to spend the TOP dollar instead of given pricing options…not good either.

I think Steve Jobs and Apple has said quite a bit about this. People keep insisting that Apple MUST support BluRay or BluRay support MUST be coming in the next version of Studio, but Steve Jobs and Apple have not wavered on their stance that BluRay is not something they have been considering.

Do what we did. Get a nice HP Workstation with a BluRay Burner ($1,500 last year with Vista) and pick up DoStudio from NetBlender. Output your Quicktime movie from FCP and let DoStudio do the rest. Professional BluRay authoring on your desktop.
