Yes, I’m on a pc and been having major problems with the last iteration or two of QT. Haven’t done significant AE work since then, but QT has been crashing Firefox anytime there’s an embedded/streaming movie on a site. Definitely an Apple problem, not an Adobe one.
I’m going to test the upgrade.

Just wondering if there has been a patch or fix for this problem yet? I have been holding off on updating to the newest QT version, but getting sick of the apple pop ups for itunes and QT. So just seeing if anyone has any updates thanks!

Can someone confirm if this is either resolved and/or whether it affects PC users? I just don’t have the time to read through the hundred or so posts in this thread. :>) somewhere in there I saw a reference to 7.4.1, does this mean it’s been fixed? Also, if it’s fixed, should this sticky be taken down so as to stop scaring people away from updates?

    thx
    Steven

Coming out of my flu coma for a few minutes here…

Yeah – It effects Windows and Mac.

7.4.1 is supposed to have solved the issue, but most people who have not made the mistake of updating to 7.4, have probably not updated to it. I think most of us are waiting to hear from those who have.

So far, word out is that it fixes the problem. But again, I’ll wait to hear how it goes. I’m not an early adopter.

Thanks Aharon, I think I’ll hold off then as well.

Sorry to hear about the flu thing. A friend of mine here in Nashville has the worst case I’ve ever seen, and I work for a healthcare company.

    Take care

Had the same problem. QT 7.4.1 seems to have fixed everything.

PC user here, and 7.4.1 did *not* fix the issue in AE for me. I opened up an older AE CS2 file w several pieces of QT footage, but could not even scrub past these segments of the comp without AE freezing up. Eventually the death grip released, but I was only able to fix the problem fully by deleting the QT segments.

I did uninstall and put in 7.3 and now I can work with the comp again, tho this isnt an accurate test since I havent brought all the footage back. But I think it could also be an AE CS3 thing in conjunction w QT.

All in all, I hope Apple and Adobe dont start going to the darkside and prematurely releasing these new versions just to please their marketing department, and forgetting about thorough testing and development. Hate to see the “service pack” mentality infect these 2 companies, even tho it seems pretty ubiquitous in the software industry as a whole.
