October 28, 2011 at 12:44 amI agree with the big solution tick. This is a monster sized solution.
Fantastic Dave thank you.
And for those that don’t realise where the AVIplug.dll file is go into your c:\program files\sony\Vegas Pro \
search for the fileIO plugins open it.
Then open the aviplug file and in there you will find the AVIplug.dllThen follow Daves instructions.

November 19, 2011 at 4:25 amI seem to have a solution. The ErrorReportClient.exe file must not have been playing nice. I removed it from the root folder of /Sony and it worked like a charm! i did not have to replace the aviplug.dll file.
Hopefully this helps those that haven’t found a solution yet 😀

May 21, 2012 at 7:42 amHey..
I tried replacing the dll file.. but didnt work..Vegas pro 10 is able to import an uncompressed avi i exported from adobe after effects.. but not any other avis.
I used to use Vegas pro 9 earlier, and then initially i had the problem that my avis were importing with no video only audio… i installed the klite pack, and that fixed it.. I used it like that for like an year. I upgraded to Vegas pro 10 later and it still worked fine.
But then my pc crashed and i had to format it.. After that when i got pro 10… The avis wud nt import at all… I installed the klite pack.. bt it didnt work either.. So thats when i found this thread..
If someone can help me ill be really really thankful…

October 6, 2012 at 2:48 amI’ve just switched my host application from Vegas 7 to Vegas 10. Since then, I’ve experienced such problems importing avi and mov formats. For about 2 to 3 days of research, I’ve learned some stuffs about aviplug.dll, ffdshow, error report system delete, etc..but all of them didn’t work for me. Now I intentionally did not include k-lite codec pack cause this one was the main thing for me. At first, I had the k-lite codec pack installed on my system since Vegas 7 until Vegas 10. Fortunately Ive come to think to maybe find something the same stuff that must be updated this time and I WAS RIGHT. I replaced the k-lite with the new one, K-lite codec pack 9.3.0 Final(windows) and it WORKS like a charm. No need to touch anything in Vegas 10. Hope this will work for you good luck.

January 10, 2013 at 3:40 amDo you have a fix for Sony vegas V12 64 bit, cause not being able to import avi’s is still an issue.

January 10, 2013 at 4:47 amVegas 12 is completely 64-bit, so using the 32-bit dll won’t work to resolve your problem.
I haven’t had any issues with any version > 10 not being able to import AVIs. You’ll either have to post the video some place for people to download and try on their own machines, or I guess find something like an AVI -> mp4 converter.
If it’s your own AVI video, you might question and/or start looking at the software used and try different software. Or save to a different format. Or even see if it’s every video you produce. If it isn’t every video, then something else must be happening.
