Well, that wasn’t my understanding..
You’re implying that it changes the 48 kHz files into 32 kHz. But I didn’t think it really changed the quality of the files in the end (when all is done and rendered and compressed and burned, etc)? I thought it just reads them for you in that setting, but in the end retains their original quality and khZ.. is that not true?

Okay. So you’re saying I can see the audio sample rate in the tape deck while I’m logging and capturing. How do I see it? Thanks.

I don’t really understand what you’re saying. Mostly everything should be in DV now that I’m capturing from a tape. I am getting something else from a DVD, but that will probably be exported as a DV 50 clip.

It’s a regular MINI DV tape, if that helps.

Okay. I used MPEG Streamclip to deinterlace it, not Final Cut Pro.
I don’t know if it was interlaced or not. It was shot with a regular digital camera, not sure what kind, but whatever the college uses.
So then the final answer is..if editing anything that’s not for the web, pretty much never deinterlace footage ?

Hi, I saw this post and I’d like your input on something.
I’m using Motion for the first time now and learning how to do zoom ins and pans on pictures, text, etc. Is there a certain setting I should be making sure that Motion has on when I do this so it comes out as the best quality pan/picture?

One last question, I promise.
Is there any way he could have went straight from DV to DVD without a loss in quality? The man told my professor that the loss in quality was very small and not noticable.
Could the problem be mostly because that it’s a copy of a copy: DV to DVD, and then me extracting it from the DVD, which is another small loss in quality, and selecting ‘deinterlace video’ which someone on this forum told me is wrong and yet another loss in quality? Is it because it was from a DVD in the first place?
