For an iPhone use the iPhone preset in compressor.
As for other phones, it is going to depend on what type of video files those phones can play, there is not one universal format for phones.

[Matthew Chiumento] “Heard alot of problems with with external drives”
[Matthew Chiumento] “Had several friends loose access to external drives as well as speed after making the switch. “
No offense to your friends but I’m betting any of those issues are because of incompatibility with 3rd party esata cards. And its their own fault for not checking the compatibility of those cards and there drivers BEFORE moving to snow leopard.
Poor planing often leads to problems.

[Jacob Emily] “your video format may be not supported by fcp”
How can that be it was captured and edited in FCP. If it was captured by FCP then it it supported by FCP.
You captured and edited in the DV format but Im betting that your camera is not set to accept a DV signal in via firewire. If the camera is looking for a HDV signal then obviously the whole thing is not going to work.

You buy them. You might be able to find some free short tutorials but nothing complete.

Sounds like you need to invest some time and money into some proper training.
Look into the peachpit books or lynda.com
