If you choose a good proper editing codec it it will pressure what’s there and not degrade it at all.

If your using Final Cut convert to ProRes.

[Andrew Harman] “The Renders are supplied as hi-res Tiffs.”

Tiffs are image files so they cannot be rendered video files.

[Chris Tompkins] “Did you change your settings to ProRes as suggested here?”

    Chris, Andrew said this earlier.

[Andrew Harman] “I realised that i posted this in the FCP section. I am using a different program to generate the video”

Considering he is NOT using FCP and has NOT said what program he is using.

NOBODY here can help him because we don’t know what program he is using. And even if we did know there is a good chance we may not be able to help because we may not know that program.

Why the question was even posted on a FCP forum I have no Idea.

Not sure why your subject line says what it does, the question has NOTHING to do with your subject line.

[fırat bakır] “Finally it record hdv to dv”

It cannot record HDV to DV, it can ether record HDV OR DV.

[fırat bakır] “I can capture it just one settings in easy setup and its 1080i”

Then you did not record in DV, you recorded in HDV.

I would actually recommend recording in HDV. Why you ask. Why not have a higher quality original recording. Your camera should be able to down convert on playback to DV.

Why you would want to shoot and edit standard definition I do not understand. EVERYTHING is HD these days. If you shoot and edit in HD you can always down convert it later to SD if needed, PLUS you also have a HD version.

Run software update, Apple releases REW compatibility updates from time to time.

Honestly I would recommend that you look into a DSLR camera for shooting video. The control you get over the lens opens SO many more possibilities.

[Steve Cornell] “Recently, we’ve had some concerns about customers only purchasing small quantities of their event film and then copying it. This can really hurt a small business.”

Well them make sure you are making your money from the production of the video not from DVD sales. Sell the DVDs cheep basically at cost or slightly more but make the production cost such that it is going to cover your time etc with an appropriate profit.

Considering that more and more people don’t even want a physical DVD or BlueRay disk but want a digital copy that can be played on computer, iPad/iPhone or streamed to an AppleTV.

I myself will not even buy or rent DVDs or BlueRays. I will buy or rent it digitally.

Doing a search on the forum for editing h.264 will provide plenty of info. Your question is asked multiple times a day.
