No only at a replication facility. Why do you want it encrypted anyway? Pirating issues are only a concern for the studios which sell millions of copies.

[Steve Cornell] “Using FCP share function to burn a BluRay, is it possible to encrypt my film so that the disc cannot be easily copied or ripped by the user ?”

No and if it was encrypted then a regular blue ray player could not play it.

Even copy protected DVDs are not encrypted. Copy protection and encryption are 2 different things.

    Zane,

I’m asking about copy protection. Lets remove ‘encryption’ from the post altogether. I would like to copy protect my BluRay. Is this possible with FCP share functionality ?

    thanks again.

    Zane,
Could you perhaps suggest some ways to get this done ? If not FCP then perhaps CS5 ?

    thanks again!

Sorry never tried to do it myself. I just know the feature is not there.

Considering there are so many ways around DVD copy protection I om kinda of the opinion of why put much effort into copy protecting it when they can still bypass the copy protection.

To my knowledge there is no copy protection in Adobe Encore.

Like I said, only at a licensed replication facility. But you need professional authoring software to provide what the replication facility needs like Do Studio Or Scenarist. Encode will not output the files needed. It will also cost a pretty penny and required a minimum run of about 1000 discs. But, like I said, copy protection is really a waste of time and money unless you plan on releasing thousands and thousands of copies. Why do you feel you need copy protection? 🙂

Thanks Eric. Recently, we’ve had some concerns about customers only purchasing small quantities of their event film and then copying it. This can really hurt a small business.

Well them make sure you are making your money from the production of the video not from DVD sales. Sell the DVDs cheep basically at cost or slightly more but make the production cost such that it is going to cover your time etc with an appropriate profit.

Considering that more and more people don’t even want a physical DVD or BlueRay disk but want a digital copy that can be played on computer, iPad/iPhone or streamed to an AppleTV.

I myself will not even buy or rent DVDs or BlueRays. I will buy or rent it digitally.
