[John Roberts] ” I recently upgraded to FCP 7″

Let me guess, you just installed the new on-top of the old. As you have discovered this can be problematic. The best way to do upgrade is to clone your system drive then wipe it and install a clean OS then install your Apps clean.

At the vary least you should completely remove FCS then install the new version.

[Tom Wille] “I have approximately 7 hours of HD (720p) footage that I need to fit into approximately a 4 GB flash drive”

By the time you compress it don’t to fit on that flash drive its going to look like HORRIBLE.

Disk warrior is NOT machine specific. Using an old version of disk warrior however can cause issues with newer versions of the OS.

Sounds like you did not install all that additional content. Soundtrack loops, DVD SP templates, Motion content etc.

January 28, 2011 at 6:14 am in reply to: Archival concern about ProRes

[Shane Ross] “Just as an FYI, the Library of Congress archives EVERYTHING onto film. Every video they want to archive is archived on film. And, they have literally EVERY kind of deck you can imagine there. Multiple decks, to ensure they can play this all back.”

Perfect from now on I will only be doing work for the library of congress.

[Mark Raudonis] “True, but we’re talking about archiving, not displaying”

Well if you cant display it then whats the point of archiving.

My point is even arcing to film is not going to ensure that you can use it in 50 years.

[Mark Raudonis] “Unless you go out to film”

In 50 years the only place you will be able to watch a movie on film will be in a museum.
