Now the BIG question for you is what type of camera do you have? I have seen wedding shot by so called professionals on everything from a cheep soccer mom camera to a variacam and everything in between.
So if you let us know what type of camera you have we can give you some better tips.

Any testing would have to be done by a Certified Apple Technician. Try the Apple Store Again. It sounds like you didn’t actually take the computer in before only described the problem to them, if you had taken it in to the genius bar they will physically test it. I know the one in my town can test a G5 with a different graphics card to tell you for sure if that is the problem before you buy a new one.

Nope just checked out that driver and the date on it is 2006. Thats LONG before leopard was released, must be something else you did.
My problem isnt with transfer speeds with cards that use that driver, my problem is that then ever I am using a card that uses that driver it caused my FCP to crash or my system to kernal panic. Every thing works fine with out it.
I just cant find a card that does NOT use that driver.

There is a logic board reset button inside the computer press that for several seconds, if the issue continues make an appointment at your apple store and let them take a look at it.

NOPE. HDV will play fine in a prores timeline, the benefit is that when ever you render it renders in prores preserving quality plus prores renders faster.
Changing your render settings to prores is a GREAT mix.

there is no FCS 4 and if you ment FCP 4 that will not run on an intel mac.
I agree that FCE is the best option where he has a MacBook

Sounds like your OS is messed up. Do an archive and install of the OS or make an appointment at your local apple store and let them look at it.

keep in mind that that is the upgrade price to the new final express, there is no up grade from any version of final cut express to final cut pro if that is what you are looking for
