Search motion apple forum as I think a year ago someone did a project that does just exactly what you want. I have no idea were it is but do a search maybe you will find it.

This is a tricky one. What is a codec you are using to render your movie. Also what is original movie codec you are using please before you are export it with motion.

I think you need to reinstall the content DVD for Motion not the program. See if reinstallinn Motion Content fixes the problem.

October 4, 2009 at 8:10 am in reply to: Curl an image in 3D space from the XY plane – Motion 4Well, it is possible to bend the shape in Apple Motion. Although you will need a third party plugin Boris Continuum 6. This plugin have some amazing tools and filters. A particular set of filters from Boris 6 you need are called BCC 3d Objects, they have built in deformers and dynamics, it is scary to see true 3d in Motion. See my review here: https://embryo.me.uk/wp/2009/09/06/review-of-boris-continiuum-6/

Yeas this is the reason it probably crashes. Select the group then go to inspector, then select group and press fixed resolution. This will make motion render only what is inside your canvas cutting out all extra staff you do not need. You also have a option to do this to 2d and 3d groups. I hope this helps.

September 29, 2009 at 10:56 am in reply to: Masks changing position – a bug, or something I’m overlooking?HI Back, I don’t think it is bug, however try deleting preferences of motion, see if this helps. If this does not resolve your problem it is best to reinstall Motion. You do not have to reinstall content, just Application. Then PM me with the results please.

Maybe you need to install new versions of the software. NI and Coremelt.
Try reinstalling the filters. -
HI. You have to select the text in the canvas and then under text Inspector/format move the baseline slider. You can do this to any line of text, but to make it work line of text must be highlighted in the canvas.

Well, the problem is somewhere that is for sure. Anyway, I never ever export to h264 directly from Motion. I always export all my movies by using Animation codec (full quality). Then I use Quicktime to export this into H264. If I am you I would try this first.
If you still have a problem. I would approach the problem from an angle that there is something in your project that Motion does not like. I would then first delete the preferences and try exporting again. If the problem persists I would then render the animation one group at the time in order to find a problem. So try rendering different groups and see it rendering stops. If it stops with a particular group you then need to use assets from that group and find which one motion does not link. Add one layer at the time until you find which is a problematic layer. Then delete the layer or re-import the layer.
I would also try to copy all groups and layers to a new motion documnet then save it under different name, see if this helps.
The problem is not easy to fix but you can find the problem if you work systematically as I have explined.
I know this is not what you want to hear. Sometimes there are no shortcuts and you need to understand that this problem can happen in any program and you need to approach it logically and find the problematic asset.
