Personally, I agree with Steve on the interface issue. Coming from the AE world, the C4D has become a great addition to my digital arena. I had a chance to look at the Max’s interface and it made me more glad that I chose C4D over any other 3D programs.

BTW, I don’t see it in the channel shader>texture pull down menu either.

Click on the top button(looks like little menus) on the vertical toolbar at the far left. Try switching to a different layout.
