Having touched all 3 programs, I learned some Max and Maya when I was in school, and when I started working after I graduated, I have learned Cinema. As a motion graphic artist, I have to say I love Cinema4D much more. To me it just seems more user friendly than the other two programs, and when you have to know tons of programs as it is and keep up to date with them, that for me is very awesome to have an easier learning curve with a 3D program. Im still learning everything, as Im still very new in the industry, but when I buy my own work station, I will definetly choose Cinema 4D. Hope this helps.

I have this same issue, theres probably easier ways around it, but what I do is just duplicate my layers that have the effects, I then merge the two layers which makes the effect unchangable, then I import it into AE. I save it with the orignal effects of course, but I wish i knew of a better way.
