they are dvcam and dvcpro hd, respectively arent they?! I advised the client that shooting HD would be the best option – however we have never shot HD before – and I hear it is pretty tough?! Can you firewire straight into FCP HD with those cameras?

also did it by simply selecting the paths and making them a compound path too.

was doing it in illustrator….think i have sorted it

i used the scissor tool….but then had to play around…made it work though

This doesnt really help…but I have had a similar thing.

I made a 30 commercial for television, which had a crawl along the bottom. This looked fine in AE and also when I imported it into FCP. But when I used compressor to make it m2v, or if I exported a self contained QT into iDVD or even DVDSP, there was huge glitching and/or fuzziness (as if the fields were out of sync) on the text that was crawling.

When I dumped the animation to tape – for broadcast – it was fine, but when I burnt the animation to DVD for our clients to view I couldnt get rid of it, and I looked like an idiot and just had to assure them everything was fine.

I never managed to sort the problem – if anyone knows how to help would be much appreciated.

the footage has been filmed true 16:9 using DSR450 (PAL)

i Know what you are saying Tom…..our commercial is only 30 secs though…and I have seen mpgs that are 512×288, 20 seconds long at around 3.32Mb file size….and the quality is pretty awesome.

I have found an export setting in compressor…but it is restricting me to 320×240….the quality is decent…but the file size is about 8.7Mb.

Any other suggestions? Lol

also when I try and change the compostion pixel aspect ratio to PAL widescreen (1.42) – it changes the whole preset also. is this meant to happen

I am working in PAL though…do I need to change that ratio?
