  • Thank you. I did think of creating compound clips and I might wind up having to do this but I was hoping there was a more elegant solution. Creating compound clips feels more like a work around.

    Cheers!

  • Hi Brad,

I looked into Zencastr and it looks like it will do the trick.

Thank you for all your help.

Unfortunately, LoopBack is great but I don’t think the commentators will want to pay the license fee for just this one use.

The other idea would perhaps be to have each commentator join the VOIP call using headphones (so as to confine the performance audio to just their ears) and record their voice using their iPhone’s Voice Memos app. Do you see anything wrong with this workaround?

I don’t know of any online services that can do this. Please send me some info about this if possible.

    Thanks!

It’s not my host. I’m using the same host for years and tried this before without issues.

Frame io most likely uses streaming servers so that’s not an apples to apples comparison. And Vimeo definitely uses high end servers specifically geared towards video delivery (and of course they reencode everything beforehand).

    Thanks though!

    Thanks for your reply Jeremy.

Strangely, I was not able to re-assign roles to that audio. I just wouldn’t let me. BUT, even though I didn’t find out exactly what the problem was I did manage to make it work. Here’s what I did:

From the Finder, I dragged that same audio file (which is in WAV format) into my library. Immediately I noticed that the yellow triangle disappeard! BUT, the audio clips were still grey bars in the timeline.

Out of a hunch, I quit FCPX, relaunched and Voila! The grey bars became the beautiful blue again!

I suspect that there is something funky with the WAV audio file. I recommend to anyone having this issue to convert the WAV to AIFF and work with that instead.

I wanted to report back in case this helps anyone in the future (if it does please leave kudos).

    Stay safe mates!

March 11, 2020 at 3:01 pm in reply to: Where can I see the aspect ratio of a clip?

I agree, 1440 looks blurry to me too! This is exactly what I got in the project.

I know about frame aspect ratios and pixel aspect ratios. Not claiming I’m an expert but I understand these things.

Having said that, I was hoping that FCPX would have a column that shows you the pixel aspect ratio. This would come in very handy when you have clips from multiple sources in a large project. Nothing beats a glance at a column to quickly know the PAR of a clip.

I hope Apple will add this in a future release.

    Thanks!

Thank you for your reply. Now I realize that I should have been a bit more specific….

I already know about the “Frame Size” in columns and the inspector. But what I need to know is the pixel aspect ratio. For example some cameras record non-square pixels (e.g., DV NTSC is 0.9:1).

Where can I find this pixel aspect ratio in FCPX?

Thank you and sorry for not being specific enough on my OP.
