  • Renaming selected clip (without affecting the main parent clip)?

I thought this would be possible but to my surprise, it’s not.

Say for example I have some footage that’s 1 hour long. From within this 1-hour long footage, I select many sub-clips by using keywords. For argument’s sake let’s say I call the keywords 1 star, 2 stars, and 3 stars.

Eventually, I wind up a lot of clips under each keyword category.

Now, let’s say I want to further classify my sub-clips somehow so that they are easier to find. What I just tried doing is renaming a sub-clip —but low and behold when I did that it renamed all the other sub-clips (including the parent clip) to the same new name I was attempting to give this single sub-clip!

Since now I have learned that I cannot rename sub-clips without affecting the rest, what do you folks do to organize all your many clips for ease of management?

    Any tips/techniques are appreciated.

    Thanks!

On the timeline, convert each sub clip into a compound clip and rename it.

Thank you. I did think of creating compound clips and I might wind up having to do this but I was hoping there was a more elegant solution. Creating compound clips feels more like a work around.

    Cheers!
