Hi Mark, thanks for the response.

I get that, you’re going to be loosing image size. But what I’m trying to do…is manually choose which part of the image I’m loosing. Right now, for whatever reason, FCP is choosing the top left corner of the image automatically when I drag the video into the sequence, making the image absolutely unusable.

Thanks for the reply. While the manual shows me how to turn off FCP automatically setting scaling…it still isn’t solving the fact that FCP is literally CUTTING my image off…quite randomly actually.

It’s as if when I drag a clip into the sequence, FCP has decided to just remove 45% of my video, and no parameter adjustment will get it back (only mess around with the remaining video).

Any thought to why FCP is being so…tyrannical with this?

I’m pretty sure I get what your saying, but I’m wondering if my camera is already doing all this for me already?
Because…if I’m shooting in HDV…and I then edit it…and print it to tape (using a regular miniDV cam), and this successfully works, then my problems are solved, correct? I’d think so. If it’s on the DV cam tape, and it plays, then it works. It’s simple as that right?

Oh wow, I had no idea that they were literally all the same tapes. I assumed they were all quite specific.
So are you then saying that if I even printed to video my FCP project onto an HDV tape…then a regular DVcamcorder (which does not have HDV function), could still play it?
