December 8, 2005 at 12:06 am in reply to: Please help… Trying to output TV shows from FCP 4.5 (os10.4.3) to DSR 45 “edit to Tape” Please help. What we ended up having to do was using the EDITING instead of MASTERING function (within “EDIT TO TAPE”). I can’t
say why but this works… all other things being equal. Because the mastering options did not exist we added 4 min of black at the end to fill out the tape. Most importantly: when we blacked the tape the deck was set to PRESET. When laying the show back to tape the same setting in the deck was set to REGEN.
Thanks for your responses. All of those options were tried and eliminated over the day. this was the one that worked.

August 22, 2005 at 3:26 am in reply to: How do I get “duplicate frame warning bars” (tried the obvious)For anybody with the same problem:
Not only do you have to have the SHOW DUPLICATE FRAMES option on in the user prefs but you have to go down to the little black triangle in the lower left hand edge of the Timeline Window (between the track hieght toggle and the timeline expansion slider). In the resulting menu is “show Duplicate Frames”… turn it on.
Silly me, I didn’t even know about that triangle and have must have pressed it by accident…. twice!
Anyway
Cheers

I answered these questions with more research…
so:
You can download 3rd party program AUTOMATIC TASKS from outside sources. The native version only automates tasks that are osx native.
i got some good ones from
https://www.automatorworld.com/But, I found the batch automater WITHIN photoshop is better for what I needed. It records what ever steps you make and then you can apply those steps to a batch of documents real fast!

I second that. KIWI throws in a ton of seconday information about workflow as he guides you along. That’s where I get a lot of bits of goodness.
Also, Renderosity.com has a handful of useful tuts as well as a tips and tricks page.
