Clint: I LOL at your “Bugs” this morning, then later today I was doing what I thought would be a beautiful timelapse cloud shot. You guessed it, when I checked the playback… BUGS!

Andy: Settings wise, the -3 gain gives a nice rich look. Email me at 77mims@charter.net and I will look up the complete ‘film look’ settings I use and email them back to you. I loaded them into a preset so I forget all the various settings but the look is great and I think you will like it. Test them out before with a sunset if that is your only option (This is Friday AM). I’m not sure a polarizer is a good idea. I shoot a lot of cloud formations at 1fr/1sec and they move pretty fast so a thirty second piece moves fast. 1 fr at 5 seconds is going to move the sun five times faster than that, is that what you want? You can speed it up in post better than you can slow it down-just my opinion.

Steve: (First-very funny stuff you must be fun to work with, sorry I no longer live in AZ)
Seriously, though, I am an ex MAC guy, only because I got tired of the fight. I was using Clip Browser 1.0 with nothing but those kinds of problems. I just down loaded CB 2.0 and all my problems went away. Since I started out my editing system with Win. Vista and Vegas Pro I don’t know if FCP even goes thru Clip Browser so if this suggestion is stupid, please excuse, if it does that may be where the problem is. You have helped me in the past so thanks for that and I hope this works out.

  • Shocking. Absolutely shocking. And sad.I love Cario and all the friendly people, you have done an incredible job exposing this. As far as hiding your camera there are a number of ways to do it. Porthole in a purse or briefcase, cell phone cameras, digital pocket size still cameras that record video, and of course a second person at a distance with a camera with a long lens with first person with a wireless mic, and finally Sony has some very small cameras for hidden work. All of these solutions require some cash outlay but you can get off the Internet so it depends on your budget. Whatever you decide all I can say is if you are an aspiring filmmaker, you have got an Oscar winning doc. here so do what you must to complete this incredible job you are doing. May God be with you.

    Mike:
From my EX3. I’m using Transcend 16gb cards with a MxR reader. They load great into the clip browser. I have also loaded directly into clip browser from the EX3 camera, no problem there, either.
I would like to know if others reading this thread have had similar problems as well. And thanks to you both for your help.

    Jay-
I get: “None of the files dropped on Vegas Pro could be opened” when I drag clips over from browser to Vegas. And I am not clear if you mean project media or media manager, however in both cases I get the same results. When I try it in explorer tab, I get nothing at all. (I’m starting to miss my Grass Valley linear editing with Betacam SP decks!)Help!
    [And thanks for trying]

William: I am considering a Pilot for my EX3, now that you have had it awhile, what is your take on it? Are you pleased and was it worth spending more than the Glidecam and others? I have seen reviews saying the vest was difficult to deal with, yes, no? Do you have footage to show?

Just one of the reasons I am a fan of Sony: Contact them with the serial number. If it is ever taken in for repair or they are able to track it’s whereabouts, they will seize it and notify you immediately. Good to know, and its best outsiders don’t know about this Sony policy. My prayers are with you for a speedy return.

Will: Check out Cartoni HiDV1 for about $800. Hands down, the best head I have ever used. B&H has jumped their price to over $1,000. so you may have to check around. The HiDV1 is a 75mm.

Michael: I have been looking at that same wireless set up. It has gotten good reviews from buyers. Please let us know how you like the Sony UWP-V1, once you have a chance to give it some real world use. Wondering about static, sound quality, range(realistic),etc. FYI to others: Beach Camera has it today for $460.
