I Can’t get from clip browser to Vegas 8.0, no matter what. Is there a way to drag and drop clips in the clip browser to Vegas 8.0?
Or why isn’t there a section that is the “clip browser” right there with Explorer, media generators, etc. I click “media bins” and “all media” and nothing happens. It would be so lovely if the two software programs were linked better for us non computer savvy folks. I need a simple solution, please help. Thanks in advance.

    Jay-
I get: “None of the files dropped on Vegas Pro could be opened” when I drag clips over from browser to Vegas. And I am not clear if you mean project media or media manager, however in both cases I get the same results. When I try it in explorer tab, I get nothing at all. (I’m starting to miss my Grass Valley linear editing with Betacam SP decks!)Help!
    [And thanks for trying]

William, what kind of files are you trying to load and where did they come from originally?

    Mike:
From my EX3. I’m using Transcend 16gb cards with a MxR reader. They load great into the clip browser. I have also loaded directly into clip browser from the EX3 camera, no problem there, either.
I would like to know if others reading this thread have had similar problems as well. And thanks to you both for your help.

William, all I can tell you is what I read on another Vegas forum.
I don’t have/use an EX3 so this explanation is like a foreign language to me.
    I hope you understand it.
It also sounds like a really good reason to upgrade to V9 Pro 🙂

You will have to re-wrap the .MP4 files to .MXF using Clip Browser (free software included with camera) for Vegas 8.

It is a feature included in VP9 that wasn’t in VP8. It’s to do with the EX1/EX3’s MP4 container with mpeg2 needs to be rewrapped in MXF.

Vegas Pro 9 can read the MP4 file from the EX3 directly whereas Vegas Pro 8 needed the MP4 rewrapped into MXF.

The EX cameras break long recordings into chunks. The rewrap to MXF joins the chunks. V9 doesn’t do any joining so a long recording ends up as several events on the T/L.
