That works for me as well, but when I click away to another keyword collection and then come back, all the notes are hidden because the twirl down icons have reset to the closed position. I don’t want to have to twirl down a few hundred clips every time I return to this keyword collection.

    Thanks,
    Bill

    Bret-

I’m on the same (or very similar) system as you and I’m able to play back clips with scopes on using Decklink 9.7.3. I’ll keep banging on it today to see if I can make it crash.

YES. I’ve had this happen on several systems- one with a Decklink PCI card and one using a Decklink Thunderbolt box. I rolled back to 9.7.3 and it’s better. Not perfect, but better. Don’t forget to un-install before installing the older version.

Thanks for the clarification. I thought that might be the case.

  • Hey Mark-

It seems to work, but it’s risky. Since there’s no server-side management of the files, there is always the possibility that another editor will open and modify a project that you are using in a project. This is a big hole in the workflow for FCP X editors working in a shared environment, and one that I hope Apple closes soon.

    Thanks,

Thanks to all for the valuable feedback. I will be hammering out a workflow for our facility that involves more manual updating than I had originally planned. There seems to be an opening here for Apple or a 3rd party to come up with a server-side solution for managing custom templates (not to mention events and projects themselves) in a multi-user environment.

  • Excellent news, Mathieu. Thanks. I will give Archiware another look, and get on the horn with Atempo.

  • Greetings all-

I’m starting to test this on our Xsan environment as well. I’m curious to know what happens if more than one user is accessing the folder at the same time and someone generates new content (title, transition, filter, etc.)- do the other editors see this update live or do you only see it upon relaunching FCP? Also, what happens if more than one user is working from the same template at the same time?

    Thanks,
    Bill

  • Thanks for the reply, Mathieu.

Our FCP X workflow tends to be to store all the materials related to a job to a centralized Project Elements folder that is broken out by year, client, job, etc. and then import assets into FCP X without copying the media to the event folder to prevent file duplication and wasted space on the Xsan. The Project Elements folder is automatically backed up to LTO, so we’re good there. What I’m trying to determine is whether it’s physically possible to archive these FCP events with just the alias files, knowing that if/when we restored a project in the future we’d be able to relink to the same location in Project Elements. Right now those directories with alias files get skipped during archiving.

    Thanks,
    Bill

Thanks, Bret. The shot in question was a connected clip, so I wasn’t able to bump it up using the keyboard shortcut. It’s good to know that this is a limitation- I’ll be sending Apple some feedback right…now.

    Cheers,
    Bill
