    Hey Warren,

If you open the X2Pro preferences and click on the “Media Locations” tab do you see your RAID listed?

I was hoping the world wasn’t going to implode.

Aw, that’s too bad. I’ll have to start plotting my 2019 return.

I’ll try to do our collective name proud! I’m leading a session at the Summit where I talk about using Final Cut Pro X to edit the year-long promotional campaign for Ken Burns’s “The Vietnam War.” And yes, I used the Ken Burns effect on a still of Ken Burns.

To be fair, they are clearly touting surf board videos in their marketing material (and splash screen). Totally different.

I’m playing around with it here. It’s pretty slick in an iMovie kind of way, and it seems like it takes some visual cues from iMovie/FCPX.

    Hey Peter,

If the content you are copying from the original timeline is sitting above the storyline (connected clips) then it will also connect to the timeline you’re pasting it into. You can paste and then drag it down into the storyline.

Thanks for posting- there are some useful tips in there. I was wondering if Chris would give a shout out to Automatic Duck, but alas…

    Cool technique Ronny! Thanks.

I’m assuming there’s no way to add an ease in/ease out to this keyframed crop?

October 30, 2017 at 5:41 pm in reply to: how to get a square 1:1 video without black bars

    Hey Sonya! Try this:

•Duplicate your timeline (to save the previous version).

•Open your Project settings (Command J).

•Change the video format to “Custom” and resolution to something square, like 640×640.

•Open your new timeline, select all, and set the Spatial Conform to “Fill.”

•Adjust clips as needed in the Inspector (use the X position to slide an image left or right to get the correct framing.

That should get you close, very quickly. Let me know if that works.

    Cheers,
    Bill
