I see no one responded to your post a year ago but am wondering if you ever solved this issue and if so how? I’m getting the same thing with basically the same settings you used but feeding AME (CS6) a QT Ref from a Avid DNxHD 145 video mixdown and on a PC (so I think that rules out an OS being the problem). Can anyone shed some light on this?

FWIW… I have no problem round tripping QTref’s into AE and back

Do a video mixdown first then QTref. However… I get the same exact error if there’s more than one mixdown which I learned long ago from a short 30 second or so revision that done and tried to re-mixdown just that portion thinking I could save some time. AME didn’t like it at all.

Like John (and many others I’m sure) I don’t edit that way either and seriously never thought anyone would. I have a friend that cuts on FCP and went to his office one day and his timeline was zoomed all the way out (over an hours worth) and he had gaps everywhere, plus sync issues (other than the first few minutes) and I had to inquire what that was all about 😀
Source monitor, make I/O marks, lay it in sequence, etc. seems to be the norm

export QT reference file. references original media and fast and without the bulk 🙂

btw… out of curiosity I googled your camera model and it’s NOT HDV so disregard my previous post 🙂

Not that this is the source of your problem but for the record, since your camera shoots HDV your project settings should be thin raster (1440×1080).

Then what are the speed ratings on discs for? Just because a burner is rated a particular speed doesn’t necessarily mean one could reliably burn (for ex:) a 4x or 8x dvd at 16+x speeds. I believe a burner’s speed rating merely means what it’s capable of. No?
