You need to make sure that the Illustrator file is made in RGB mode and not CMYK.

September 29, 2016 at 9:29 pm in reply to: Make properties of video footage affect other layersThanks a lot! Great idea, I will try it out when I’m back at work Monday. I see many other possibilities with this approach – why not let one layers darkness properties affect particles on another layer. Or make a sound layer affect color of another layer and so on. Unfortunately I’m not that great with scripting! 🙂

April 28, 2011 at 2:15 pm in reply to: Perspective Corner Pin without Position keyframes?Problem with Mocha, if i understand correctly, is that you have to use it with already rendered files. I want to track items in precomps. Any solutions not involving Mocha?
thanks –

April 27, 2011 at 9:57 pm in reply to: Perspective Corner Pin without Position keyframes?thanks. I’m a bit hesitant to involve Mocha since I want to have a simple workflow (sometimes tracking has to be done in comps within comps etc) but if I find no other way I’ll try it.

thanks, this sounds interesting. i guess in this scenario only the first fish is attached to the path and the other ones dont have any position keyframes ? I understanf the first fish will @drag@ the others behind it, but I don’t understand how the others will follow the path?

Thanks a lot guys. Filip, I tried the Bezier warp thing and the result was quite good, although it takes lots of tweaking to make it look nice (not warp-y). I wish there was a way of using the illustrator outlines as boundarys for the warp, instead of having to redraw them within the effect! Micheel, I’m going to try your trick as well during the weekend!
Many thanks-

thank you.
I didn\t think about precomposing the fish, that will help a lot as i tweak the easy in settings untill the fishes are aligned properly! I/m not sure wheasther or not it will work to push the fish away in 3D space since they are aligned to that path… but Ill try!

Hi and thanks for your fast reply!
In the middle of each coloured area there is a vector path created in Illustrator. I pasted one of these paths onto a Fish layer to create a Motion Path. I aligned the orientation of the fish to the path, and scaled it down with a series of keyframes, to make sure that it’s within the contour lines of the coloured area. Then i duplicated the Fish layer, including the motion paths, 20 times, and sequenced the layers in time to give the impression of a row of fish. But because of the scaling the distance between the fishes seem to increase as their size decreases.
Maybe I could get around this problem with some parenting or precomposition tricks. I don\t want to create a 3D path, because the tweeking would be endless to make the fishes fit into their areas.

Hi and Thanks!
The fish move in relation to a 2D drawing, so the 3D approach is difficult here (I think tweeking the paths in 3D space would take too long). Any other ideas for how to do this ?
Here is an image showing what I’m trying to do :

Cool, this works perfect too! Strange that they don’t have this
inbuilt in PS too! Many thanks Richard!
