OK, I can drag a sequence into the encoding queue with no problem, but how do I drop it into a watch folder? That’s not specifically demonstrated in Jason’s video (I had watched it before I posted the question). I can’t drag a sequence into the watch folder inside AME, nor into the folder as it appears in Explorer.
I’m running CS 5.5 in Windows 7 on a Boxx workstation with maxed out RAM and a RAID 10 assets drive.

We use both in our operation, although I work exclusively in PPro and import FCP projects if necessary for me to cut on something that was started on the other platform. Not all effects and graphics translate from FCP to PPro, but you get a report of what didn’t come across.
I prefer PPro because of the ability to start cutting immediately on whatever is thrown at me, including the ability to import DVD files without re-wrapping or transcoding.
I also find that I’m much faster than my FCP colleagues, but that may be as much due to experience and editing philosophy as it is to the NLE software.
Ultimately, a good editor will get great results with either. As I say ad naseum, it’s the craftsman, not the tool.

Sorry I wasn’t more specific. Camera is essentially in it’s “out of the box” configuration. “Hot” is referenced to the scope in Premiere Pro. Clips are transferred from the SxS card via the Sony Clip Browser and imported into Premier Pro using its Media Browser. Since I’m in NTSC world, the 7.5 setup box is checked on the Premiere scope. Clips typically show the darkest level at about 15 IRE, and whites can peak at about 115. If I record a clip of camera bars and import that into Pro, it reads correctly on the scope (black at 7.5, white at 100). If I record black in the camera (lens cap on), the clip reads slightly high, about 8.5 on the Premiere scope. I usually will set my exposure so that I see the 70% zebras just starting on the brightest spot on the face. The EX3 is new to me, and I’m not used to a camera with as many set up adjustments as this, so I really haven’t changed much yet.

Thanks Tim. Appreciate all the advice you freely give on this forum.

I’m very happy with the GoBoxx from Boxx Technologies, but this isn’t really a laptop. They call it a portable work station, and it can handle some pretty heavy duty editing, After Effects work, etc.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it’s not Open GL. Turned it off and the problem still appears.
However, tried importing the comp into a new project by following the steps outlined in this post https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/2/930926 and that seems to have solved the problem.

I don’t think this is a codec issue. This isn’t the result of a render. It’s what I see on the monitor the moment I scrub on the timeline. I’m thinking this is a hardware or settings thing, but I don’t know where to begin looking.

A Tricaster will also do a live key, although it is much more forgiving than Keylight.

Thank you, that worked. Still puzzled why the dynamic link to Encore didn’t work.

For what it’s worth, I’m running CS4 on a Boxx W4800 (great company, great support) with 6 gigs of RAM and Vista 64. I have no problem with AVCHD video (only have tested Canon cameras) nor with P2 nor with video from Sony X1/X3 cameras. However, I have learned that I have to have everything that’s on the card. I tell the videographers to copy over everything. I import just the video files, but Premiere needs to see something else in one of the other directories. Haven’t figured out yet what really is extraneous and what’s necessary.
