It looks like a BNC barrel extender with one side close off. Where it goes depends on your cabling set up. Mine is on my breakout box on the ref loop chain.

Is the deck terminated with an SDI terminator? Not sure if you need one with that deck.

I just got off the phone with Avid. They said this is a known bug in Application Manager and some system IDs. When I typed in my system ID in the phone queue, I got an automated response that my support contract had expired even though I renewed in December.
They are working to fix this.

Never format in the computer. Always let the Camera format the card after you’ve transferred the file to the iMac. It could be directory corruption. It could be a bad card. But rule #1, always format the card in the camera you will record to.

AJA has a Gen10 it does HD and SD Genlock. Horta also makes a black burst gen.
See if you can rent one if it’s just a few tapes.

Do you have Genlock? A Color Sync Generator? Black Burst. You need something to stabilize the video signal.

To be clear, Cinestyle is not shooting RAW. If you want to shoot RAW video you have to use MagicLantern which works exceptionally well and gives you 14bit RAW cinemaDNG files. You can color correct to your hearts content afterwards as nothing is backed in like a RAW still.
Shooting flat gives you a little playing roomin the shadows and highlights when you color correct because you are not backing in a saturation.

If you go the MagicLantern route, the only thing you need to really worry about is white balance, and that can be done after the fact. It doesn’t hurt to do it while you shoot.
Yes, the files are bigger and the workflow is a little longer. You will need fast cards to capture to and more of them, but you will be shooting in 14bit uncompressed RAW. It might be over kill for a pre-nup video but it will give you the widest options in color correction at the end.
