Just go to the color panel of Premiere Pro and the tool is automatically activated. That 3 way…. well I can’t say anything nice about it. We’ve used Red Giant’s Colorista for the past 3 years because that tool is so bad. But now with Lumetri, all of that has changed.

As you’re in the southeast, Houghton Talent Agency in Atlanta is awesome and they’re willing to work with you on your budget when necessary. Recently we decided to hold an open casting call for a 15 – 20 year old for a new gig. Of the 15 who auditioned, we narrowed it down to 6. 5 of the 6 were from Houghton as was the kid we chose to do the hosting.
Time and again, they simply have the best folks and super super easy to deal with. They can provide video auditions via upload so they don’t even have to come to you to audition. I’ve known Mystie for years and she’s just an awesome person to work with and that quality runs through her company.

You need the exact specifications from the broadcaster. Whatever we say here doesn’t matter. There are usually at least three pages in every broadcaster spec guide that deal specifically with video delivery.
No two networks are exactly alike. If you want to prevent the show from being rejected and having to do the entire process again, get the exact specs you are required to deliver. If you’re working through a distributor, ask them.

[Claudia Rousseaux] “The “generalization” you seem to reject is a reality, we always make more money when we record directly for the client who initiated theproject: “
Your generalization is that you seem to know how we pay and book our talent. You have no clue, I’m done with this conversation. Have a nice day.

[Claudia Rousseaux] “Where is the difference?? You hired your voice talent directly, while most of us are hired throughout studios, Agents, intermediaries… “
Never assume how any of us run our businesses. I sincerely hate generalizations like this.

[Claudia Rousseaux] “$ 1500 for a narrative recording? I hope that the final project was marketed and sold to broadcast use… Very well paid indeed!! You will find my new 2016 rate list, very close to the current market offers to professional voice talents.”
We just paid $1500 for a national broadcast spot and that was with the talent taking a $1200 pay cut because $1500 was our max budget.
We pay anywhere from $350 to $3000 for voice over in general depending on the project and delivery. Longer narrations and major talent can cost more. For example Sigourney Weaver and Mia Farrow narrating our documentaries were significantly higher, but they’re well known stars.

Here’s a great example of why you’re slow Bob. People really don’t give a crap who or what they hire today. The race to the bottom is no longer relegated to Craig’s List. It’s on Staff Me Up and many other sites as well.
They don’t want to pay the craftspeople and they use crappy workstations with USB 3 drives. Who needs a properly configured workstation or facility to do work anymore?

Nope, no stacking although I do use other filters with the Lumetri as needed.

I just graded 40 minutes of three programs two weeks ago with Lumetri. No issues. Another editor here is working on a Science series using Lumetri for the past three weeks. No issues.
We’re on 3 year old 27″ iMacs with the AJA IoXT boxes.

August 7, 2015 at 6:36 pm in reply to: How long would it take you to cut a six-part documentary series? It’s very interesting to understand how much more work is going to be required with regards notes and transcriptions – the transcription alone is something I’d definitely consider outsourcing to another agency. I’m usually just given a thirty-second guide-track and a single sheet of instructions to work with!
It took over a month to have everything transcribed, at least what I had at that time. Then I sat and read everything like a book for about 6 weeks before I looked at one frame of video.
Just the media management alone is a massive project. Even though I was working through Good Eats and had a great handle on that workflow at the time, managing something this large was daunting and I did a lot of things wrong for the first 6 months which I got corrected.
Now managing near petabytes of material is a breeze, but at the time, boy howdy that was a wake up call. No matter how much planning the clients say they are going to provide, it’s never enough. 6 x 50 is going to be a ton of work and require a ton of media management. If either side is weak, the project will get ugly in a hurry. Good luck on both fronts.
