I do not see an “echo zoom”
I see a layer cut between to clips with a mask in between. You can also see the layer has some small layer effect bleeding between the two if you go frame by frame.
It is hard to scrub through an online vide to see what is going on. But to me it looks like a straight jump with no easing.
Jut line up your layers with your mask of choice. You can set a null shape layer with your timing slider at the top and pick whip any opacity, scale or any other cut actions to the same slider effect object.
Suggest you generate a wave form. Study the wave form and mark that layer for your timing event. Use that to pick whip effects to the music timing and some how generate the null from that or put make a slider effect from that.
Either use an illustrator or Photoshop
file as a mask or make one from a shape layer. You can then scale it or change transparency via a pick whip to the slider as well. You can look at this all as key frames or as a graph with timing easing etc. So many decisions. So many reviews to tweak it right.
Do this,. Look at your sample ideal clip. Write a list of what it does. How fast in frames and seconds it does what you like. Look at opacities etc. Use that list to refer back as you work.
As a student this is a good time to consider will you do motion video to someone else’s deadlines for pay. ( down and dirty, hose it out the door) or will you be ” un artiste” who lolls over decisions and to whom it is never just right ? Or will you try to find the in-between ?As I sad before, there are many ways to accomplish this transition at 0:40. You could even do it in Premiere with a simple transition and a layer mask. Not as precisely but the move at 0:40 is very fast anyway.

While I admire your ambition this is asking a lot for a “class assignment” video.
Perhaps you would be better off with approximations or just basics.All of what you ask for is doable in more than one way.But perhaps you should take a look through the effects folders and reading the titles find some which you can adapt.
Someone may have time to work out all of the “expressions ” for you but it is still a lot of work. Are you sure you could then have the knowledge to adapt what people told you to do, to your own project?
Potentially there are days of work involved to get specific steps worked out . Often studio producers use canned effects which are then tweaked for these commercial videos.
This is not “an overnight fix” you are asking for. Try your hand at some expression writing. And it is very late in the semester for skills which cah take a long time to hone.

Have you tried the spectral pitch and frequency display to find the echo and analyze the range? Then by selecting if and muting or erasing , eliminate what you do not want?
Or by analysis you know the exact frequency to suppress. I would try to use a parametric EQ just to begin.
It sounds more natural than blanking out the space which you would then need to fill with room ambiance.
If you had to go in by hand just to get it done there are several ways to work. But the spectral pitch will show you right where it is and you could then mark the track, navigate to each instance and use the tool you found to work best for your material. Being able to manipulate the total spectrum with such fine precision is more “surgical” Some time spent getting used to working that way will be well invested.

CC can drop the ball on these edit shares. Try multiselecting all audio you want to mix down and use the dynamic link export if the edit in Audition feature does not work.
You could also make a sub project or sequence of just the audio tracks to move as needed for the mix. Have you tried the Premiere audio features for your mix? You may be able to make your changes right there.
If it is still a problem just manually place your tracks and watch where your file exports are sent. Keeping a hand written list of file names may help. As you may have trouble finding edit files and mixdowns.
Personal workflow patterns and those recommended by Adobe and others often break down with monthly and sometimes weekly updates. Troublesome when you keep files on many different drives.

If your expression math does not fix the problem a workaround could be to clone the particle layer as needed to fill the width, perhaps upping particle size as well.

The control for the color quantification read out is not in preferences where I had looked.
It is in the “Info Panel” panel control.

There are a lot of changes made to CS6 Pr seemingly just for the sake of change. The Adobe page on this says editors were observed who did not use the shuttle control. How many? Was the ‘n’ statistically significant or merely anecdotal?
The interface looks cleaner? Who cares ? It looks busier now than it ever did, so what was gained?
An valuable asset was taken away. Intuitive options were reduced.

no Bob it does not. Not for me anyway. Render out into any QT format results in terrible sound.
The Sony MP4 files leave a lot to be desired as well. I am looking for some way to get some decent codecs besides the Microsoft ones.
Vegas MS PE 11 so far sucks compared to the Premiere Pro and FinalCut I am priced out of now.
Crude interface. Poor math that drops out effects. Even when effects are locked in. Effects settings that drift constantly and a mystery interface. As in -” it’s a mystery how they expect you to find anything.”

Now it is broken again. I must conclude that Microsoft Windows constant insistence on updates,verifications and additional”services’, and checks are intentionally meantto break the system you have working so you will gain incentive to just buy new software form it’s partners or from microsoft. Their market approach and red supposed concern and respect for user needs are pure bool-S h i t !

I started having some trouble again when I was trying to get AE going.
Again no sound.
Also was trying to set up scratch disks for PP and AE. So I had to set up virtual disks on a SATA external with 7200 RPM to held render palyback over the slower system drive.
I firmly believe Microsoft engineers write with the maxim of giving systems the most chances to fail and hiding the controls from the user.
Anyway after reading the misleading and inaccurate info several times I found yet another virtual machine XPmode control panel I found shared audio resources on startup unchecked even though it had worked before and even though PP was playing audio !
